The device can be used to disinfect air drawn from outside or air supplied by a central air-handling unit. When installed in an air duct system, it functions as a passive component and does not have its own fan.
Principle of operation

Whether drawn in from outside or circulated through the central air handling unit, the air may contain numerous microorganisms that must be eliminated for health reasons. For this purpose, we recommend the R-FILTER disinfection device, as the UV-C radiation it emits destroys the DNA of pathogens, thereby disinfecting the air. The device does not have its own fan, so it can be installed in either the supply or return side of the ventilation system, but care must be taken to ensure that the air velocity inside the device is 2–2.5 m/s, which is optimal for sterilization. At higher air velocities, the R-FILTER UV-C lamps do not have enough time to destroy bacteria and thus disinfect the air.
